- Swatch of DNA that’s comparative to mRNA for gene interested in, enzyme tag directly attached to DNA
Southern Blot
- Recognizes DNA
- Same process as Northern blot, but DNA must be separated first
Western
- Recognizes Proteins
- Anti-target Ab
- Secondary Ab w/enzyme tag
All Blots
- Gel: separate w/electricity
- Transfer to membrane
- Detect desired material, “probe” membrane w/tagged chemical specific to target
